There is an iron law: Fast, cheep, good. Pick two (sometimes less).
Projects have schedules, budgets and requirements. Schedules are most often aggressive and optimistic. The day will come when management declares, “Shoot the engineer. Ship it!” The business reality is that perfection takes too long and costs too much. Extra isn’t in the budget or the schedule.
While the confidence aspect of the article has merit, I question competence vs. confidence. Your article may have just made the “work smarter, not harder” adage meaningful.
