The trouble is, none of that matters when it comes to the divide. Trust, and the lack of it. Generally the disarmament crowd is comprised of progressives. It’s in the name. With every compromise and new law or regulation the quest for another starts (progress to an unacceptable end goal). If gun regulation proposals included as a part of the law a clause that any attempt to expand that law would nullify it you might get reasonable reform. Without that, the pro gun crowd will oppose all proposals. The lack of trust prevents reform. It’s in the name, progressive. Onward to the next imposition of our will on everyone.
