Does your article actually suggest that being out of touch with our emotions makes us less able to control our reactions to them rather than being a difference in the amount of emotion that we have?

At the moment my takeaway is that you are writing about men having less understanding of their own emotions rather than have having more. But that’s not what you wrote. I’ve over thought it and may have lost your message by reading stuff into it. I deleted much of what I wrote so you don’t see the overthinking.
