I wonder how much birth control and abortion have to do with change. I’m old enough to to remember 10 and 12 child families. Mothering was a full time job and determent to careers.

Now in the era of small families or no children at all women have much greater earning potential. I know several couples where the woman makes more and both are 100k+ earners. One even went the Mr Mom route.
